Young Mum's Support
Bright Futures support young mums either one to one or in a group setting depending on the individual needs of the young woman.
Bright Futures Young Mums Network supports mums across South Tyneside.
We currently have over 80 young mums registered in the Network. We support young mums either one to one or in a group setting depending on the individual needs of the young woman. The service is available until the young mum is ready to take the next steps in her life. It aims to give young mums the support needed to parent whilst navigating complex lifestyle and relationship issues; empowering mothers to thrive as parents, and as individuals.
The service is available to young/expectant mums up to the age of 25 years old who may lack confidence to reach out and access generic support networks.
Services available:
- Enhance parenting skills - safe sleep guidelines, infant feeding support, positive behaviour messages
- SOLIHULL Understanding your Child’s Behaviour course
- Perinatal mental health awareness and support
- Relationship education
- Raising aspirations, learn coping strategies and mechanisms, encourage self-development
- Support to access education, training or employment - access to online courses
- Antenatal support - parentcraft, birth preparation
- Healthy lifestyle support including fitness classes
- Support to access services in the wider community
- Personal and Social Development
- Household management support
- Peer support programme
The groups are informal, delivered in the community and children are welcome to attend. All sessions are non-judgemental and empowering, all attendees have shared and/or relatable experiences.
